AHAHBBAA. James Harold Dake
Harold was born in Mt. Auburn, Ia. on Dec. 24, 1901 to parents Clarence Dake and Nina F. Ellsworth. On July 2, 1927 in Independence, Iowa, he married Erma Grace Reid (born Dec. 12, 1911 - died April 20, 1985) His occupation was a Mechanic for Benton Co. Highway Commission. He retired in 1967. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Vinton. He died in Vinton, Iowa on Apr. 24, 1983. He is buried in Vinton, Iowa at Evergreen Cemetery.

 


Harold Dake Family

AHAHBBAAA. Darrell Duane Dake
Darrell was born July 10, 1928 in Urbana, Ia. to parents James Harold Dake and Erma Reid. He had a career in the US Air Force and obtained the rank of Senior Master SGT. He served in WW II, Korea and Vietnam. He was married in Germany, while in the Army, on Oct. 17, 1958 to Katharina Maria Hoff. He died of Parkinson's disease on June 29, 2002 at Muskogee, OK and was buried July 3, 2002 at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK.

AHAHBBAAAA. Liana Eileen Dake
Liana was born on May 12, 1957 in Dromersheim, Germany to parents Darrell Dake and Katharina (Hoff) Dake. She married Thomas Wynne. They lived in New York. They had children: Katie Lorraine and Mathew Darrell Wynne.

AHAHBBAAAB. Glenda Leigh Dake
 Glenda was born on Dec. 23, 1959 in Orlando, FL to parents Darrell Dake and Katharina (Hoff) Dake. She married Larry Voigt and they lived in Muskogee, OK. They had children: Anthony William and Rebecca Michelle Voigt.

AHAHBBAAC. Lyle Leroy Dake
Lyle was born Feb. 8, 1938 in Vinton, IA to parents James Harold Dake and Erma Reid. He served at a non-commissioned officer in the Navy Band between 1956 and 1975. He was married on April 25, 1957 to Marilyn Carol White at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. In 1973 he received a B.S. in Business Administration from Roosevelt University and an MBA in 1974. He was the asst. Trust Officer at the Zion State Bank and Trust Co., Zion, Ill. betwen 1975 and 1978. He was the head of the Trust Dept., Bank of Waukegan, Waukegan, Ill. between 1978 and 1980 and at the Citizen Nat. Bank of Macomb, Macomb, Ill. in 1980. He then did postgraduate work in Trust Banking at University of North Carolina, Charlotte during 1976 and 1977 and later at Northwestern University between 1979 to 1981. He was made V.P. Western Ill. Estate Planning Council in 1980, Member of faculty of College of Lake County, Grayslake, Ill. 1974 to 1980, Mc Henry County College, Crystall Lake, Ill. 1974 to 1980, Western Ill. University in 1981. He was Sr. Vice President and Trust Officer until 1996 at Herget National Bank in Pekin, IL, Mercantile Bank & Trust in Quincy, IL and American National Bank (now Union Planters) in Vincennes, IN. In 1996 he became a stock broker with Fifth Third Bank and finally semi-retired in 1999. He taught college classes part-time evenings for over 25 years. He is currently a lay preacher in several churches in IL and IN. He currently lives in Lawrenceville, IL.

 Monica was born on Jan. 22, 1958 at Vinton, IA to parents Lyle Dake and Marilyn (White) Dake. She married William Austin Durham on June 4, 1977 at Immanuel Baptist Chruch, Zion, IL. She received her Masters Degree and is a school psychologist in the San Bernadino, CA school system. They have children: Jessie Austin (born Jan. 26, 1982 at Macomb, IL).

 Melanie was born on May 29, 1961 to Lyle Dake and Marilyn (White) Dake at Andrews AFB Hospital, Morningside, MD. She married John Charles DeMaria on Oct. 16, 1993 at Great Falls Methodist Church, Great Falls, VA. She received her Masters Degree and is a Deputy Marshall-Inspector with the US Marshall's Service in Chicago, IL.

 Joel was born on May 1, 1967 at the US Naval Hospital, Bethesda, MD to parents Lyle Dake and Marilyn (White) Dake. Self taught professional musicians and computer engineers. Joel works in the computer department at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.

AHAHBBAACD. Stephen Dwight Dake
 Stephen was born on Nov. 13, 1968 at the US Naval Hospital, Bethesda, MD to parents Lyle Dake and Marilyn (White) Dake. He married Kimberly Jo Bushue on Feb. 12, 1994 at Congregational United Church of Christ, Pekin, IL. Self taught professional musicians and for a period time worked as a computer engineer with EMC in Pekin, IL. In 2005, he moved family to Cambridge, WI. He works as a Computer/Information Security Consultant in Madison, WI.

He was a driver for Concrete Ready Mix in Vinton, Iowa and then worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 15 years.

AHAHBBAC. Laverne Clarence Dake
Laverne was born in Brandon, Buchanan Co., IA on May 3, 1915 to parents Clarence L. Dake and Nina F. Ellsworth. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Audry Laverna (Wisehart) Dennison on Feb. 6, 1939. (She was born Apr. 26, 1920 and died on June 29, 1983). Laverne was a self employeed carpenter and bricklayer. He was a talented wood worker and specialized in making grandfather clocks. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, hunting and going for walks. He died on August 1, 2005 in the Sunnycreast Nursing Home in Dysart, IA.

Laverne Clarence Dake Obituary

Laverne Dake 90, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005 in Sunnycreast Nursing Home, Dysert, following an extended illness. Graveside services: 10:20 a.m. Thursday, Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, by the Rev. Rose Blank. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his daughter, Roseanne Rogers and husband Bob, and his brother Willis Dake and wife Belva, all of Vinton. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters Donna, Karen and Martha; his son Nile; and his brothers, Harold and Marvin.
